The 18-hole "Old Greenwood" course at the Old Greenwood Golf Club facility in Truckee, California features 7,518 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72.

The communities of Tahoe Mountain Resorts were created with a commitment to achieving the highest standards of ecological and social responsibility by East West Partners. These year-round resort communities employ environmentally conscious practices rarely applied on such a comprehensive basis in real estate development.

In addition, East West Partners has collaborated with community organizations and foundations, and estimates that in just over 20 years, the Tahoe Mountain Resort communities will generate more than $50 million to acquire open space and support arts and education programs. East West Partners has donated hundreds of acres of land for use by the community, including permanent public open space, hiking trails and bike paths, a site for a public school, churches, and a public recreation center.

The golf course sits just north of Truckee on the California side of Lake Tahoe, is a real brute from the tips, but at least it's kinder to wildlife than it is to golfers. You won't score any eagles from the tips (7,518 yards) but at least you'll see plenty of them overhead with a  mountain meadow setting — at an elevation of 6,000 feet. Old Greenwood achieved certification in the Audubon Signature Sanctuary Program in 2005. Certification is based upon the overall assessment of the property, wildlife habitat enhancement and management, waste management, energy efficiency, water quality and conservation and integrated pest management.
